The Chamber and the Bicentennial Committee is looking for businesses and individuals to help us celebrate Indiana and it’s 200th year as a state!

One of the ways Indiana is commemorating the Bicentennial is by placing statues of Bison throughout the state. The bison is significant to Indiana because a well-known migration route for bison stretched across Indiana; settlers used this migration route to move west and settle in Indiana.

Syracuse will receive a Bison statute to be permanently placed in the town. This bison statue will be painted to reflect our unique Syracuse-Wawasee sensibility. We are currently looking for sponsors to help support the statue and celebrate the Bison-tennial. The sponsors will be placed on a plaque that will remain next to the statue. Sponsor the bison today by emailing!

There will be many other events happening around the state and coming to the county. The torch relay, which is going through every Indiana county, will come to Kosciusko this fall. Businesses can also purchase LED Indiana State torches to put outside of their place of business by contacting Herman’s Christmasland. One of the torches currently sits outside of the Syracuse Community Center.
