The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce works with elected officials at the local and state level along with our region partners on policy issues and initiatives that will help shape a strong business environment. We also meet monthly with area Chambers from the Northern Region of the state to discuss policy and issues affecting our members.
We focus on public policy that supports:
An environment where business can prosper
Talent development for the region’s workforce
Quality of life that attracts and retains residents and workers
Collaboration that leads to economic prosperity in the Syracuse-Wawasee area
In order to engage the business community in these efforts, we listen to members about their business needs; provide members with information about legislation that could impact their business; coordinate opportunities to meet and hear from elected officials; monitor public policy activities and issues important to the business community; and provide representation at the local, state and federal levels with our elected officials.
We place a high importance on staying “in the know” and meeting regularly with our local government officials, working closely to discuss and plan for the future of the town and community needs in addition to our yearly visit to the Statehouse to see our legislators in work and find out what is happening in session.
And last but not least…
Your local chamber does not endorse candidates but does organize events for members (and other members of the public) to “Meet the Candidates” in advance of voting. We also encourage questions from our members and the public that we provide to candidates to help share reasons why they deserve your vote.
Be sure to attend our upcoming Meet the Candidates event for the Syracuse Clerk-Treasurer position.
